Hey all. I had a mecanic throw on the MRT H-pipe while he was fixin my header leak. Man the car sounds great now! I bought the car used with flowmasters and jba shorties already on it so I figured I'd just finish it up with the midpipe. Now that is its complete, no leak , nice sound ect, about 150 -200 miles later the engine light comes on! Ahhhhh! Chances are pretty good that the h-pipe causes this?? How do I get the codes? Thanks!
You can use a hand-held device, like the predator, to obtain the codes & clear them. We weren't specific but your mils may have malfunctioned. It's not that uncommon. The computer finds their way around them. Btw, you can also turn off your rear O2 sensors with a predator.

What year is it? If memory serves correct, the 04's will throw codes. I just put an MRT on my 03 about two months ago with no problems and I agree, it does sound nice.

i've had the MRT-H on both my 04's and no code thrown, check ur o2 sensors first. put almost 10g miles on my first mach, swapped it over the the new mach put another 6g miles on it and no code. if its the off road h(no cats) ur mil elims are probably shot get some new ones. from what i've heard the steeda ones are the best.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 2 hours, rehook that way the computer can reset. Then if it comes back on 1) Check codes using a hand held tuner, 2) Put on 02 Extension wires from steeda, 3) Turn off your back 2 o2 sensors using the hand held tuner!
I had this same problem when I installed my x-pipe, I installed 02 Extenders from steeda, never had the problem again, lol!
Good Luck!

Ah ok well it looks like Ill be investing in a predator then! Bummer but I guess it is worth the money, I have been hearing alot of good things about it. I do have an 04 and only have about 13600 miles on her so Im pretty sure this is the problem. I dont see what else it could be, the car runs great! Thanks for your info! Have a great holiday!

Well you could also invest about $60 at the local parts store for a OBDII scan tool, if you just need to read the codes. I bought one when PepBoys had a sale, and it has come in handy. Also, some of the auto parts places were scanning the codes free of charge, though I guess some are charging a nominal fee now.
Of course if you had planned to buy a programmer, then by all means go for it, just letting you know that there are lower cost alternatives for just getting the codes read.

So is this issue only with O/R pipes? Will I have this issue with MRT catted H-pipe and MRT Max Thunder catback on my 04? B/c that is the system I am planning on getting.
MRT-CHPIPE MRT Stainless H-PIPE 99-04 W/Cats $515.00
1233-1 MRT Max Thunder 304SS Catback w/Chrome Tips $519.95
no change in factory headers here, I don't drag and I can't justify the cost and trouble to change them out

Nothing against Predators (I have one). But you are in SCT ExcalII country. Not alot of choices in preformance shops that work with Predators.
I am not sure of all your mods but here is what I would do if you do not have a CAI or a RAI.
JLT sometimes offers a packaged deal with their CAI/RAI and a SCT ExcalII. Although it is not on the web site right now. Make arrangements to get a packaged deal with Jay and drive to Chesapeake and have it installed and dynotuned at Dynotuned down the street from JLT. Dyntuned does work with Predators as well.
Hard to find used ExcalIIs but easy to find used predators for $200.00.
Other preformance shop options in Maryland area are Excessive Motorsports or Springfield Motorsports. Both good shops and they work with the SCT products.

I have this exact set-up. My check engine light came on once. I checked all the sensor connections, the front two might have been loose. I reconnected them and put them back in the factory brackets (pain in the a$$, not much room on top of the transmission). I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. The check engine light went away and never came back. I have put 6000 miles on the car since. I believe it was either a faulty connection or the computer had to adjust to the higher exhaust flow
