Jorge, i dont think our spoiler is functional at all. Ive had my spoiler off for about a month now, but im not sure if i like the look. Half my friends like it spoilerless and half like it with the spoiler. It might go back on soon, im getting tired of everyone thinking my mach is a V6

Didn't the Cobra come sans a rear spoiler once? "Only better to smoke you with my dear". Let them keep on thinking it's a v-6.

Hey Chris...yeah I know what ya mean about the Mach being spoilerless and looking like a GT :lmao: When I had to do some wheel maintanence...I put on a set of GT Bullitt wheels and folks thought I had a GT not a Mach  ... I'm not being an "elitest" but I bought a Mach...cause well...it's a Mach not a GT...

It's not functional. The 94-98 GT spoiler ford claimed to be functional. If you look at the shape of the two, the older sploiler has a little more upward curve to it, and I guess that's where they got that. Still don't believe that one's functional either.

Yes, take it from a former Ford employee (ME!) that the spoiler is a neutral wing. It provides no force whatsoever, but the 03-04 Cobra spoiler IS functional. In my opinion it is also cleaner looking, but the holes are different on the Mach-Cobra deck lids.

I agree, the mach wing is primarily for show...as the original mach wing was. Also look to the Y2K SVT Cobra R aeropackage as it went through some wind tunnel testing....thats some wing.

"Testing shows the splitter and wing are the good guys in the R’s one-handed, high-speed stability. The combination produces a 10-fold reduction in front-end lift, along with a 3-fold increase in rear downforce. The drag penalty turned out to be about 5 mph--from approximately a 175-mph top speed down to 170. Even for racing, this is an excellent trade."

I loved (and still do) the clean lines of my Bullitt (former)...no rear wing, no side scoops...really gave the car the 'clean' lines I like....On the Mach 1 I would 'hate' the clean lines--sorry I'm a Mustang traditionalist...Ford built the Mach 1 like it is for a reason-Heritage..thus the shaker and BLACK rear wing instead of body colored like all the other 'new edge' Mustangs.....I can see wanting to be different....but a Mach looks like a Mach for a reason........
I strongly suggest that you need 2 cars...the Mach 1 with all the scoops, shaker and wing..all the 'busy' do dads and then a 'clean' car with graceful bodylines without the wing crap....may I suggest a Z06 Corvette--very clean natural lines..that make for a nice compare and contrast in the driveway.. :grrr: :eg:

The Mach1 rear spoiler is good for drag and maybe Mach1 identity! On the other hand, I wouldn't mind other drivers thinking I'm a V6 or a GT. When it comes to wingless Mach1's, the look has definitely grown on me. You might think the Mach1 looks naked because of the balance between the shaker and the rear spoiler, but in my opinion, it only looks naked because you expect the spoiler to be there. But once your expectations wear off, you'll notice that the look is pretty sweet. Here is a thread (http://www.mach1mustang.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=5683) I created with pictures of my wingless Mach1, if anyone is interested.
I said some time ago that I would take some pictures of the trunk lid to show the bolts I used to fill the holes as well as the damage to the paint done by the spoiler being overtighted, unfortunately. I have yet to take this picture, but I'll try to get it done and posted soon.
