Does anyone know what intake the MACH has? Is it a good one or is the Variable runner one in the ford performance catalog better?

I think from what I keep reading that all the 4.6 DOHC's share the same intake which from Ford is 1200 dollars. Ouch!

To much money for an intake. That is crazy. Almost the price of a supercharger for an intake.

i'm doing a little research on this also, i'm in no way mechanic inclined, but i've been thinking about cam/head swaps and stuff like that, if i could find the right combination....

anyways, i opened up a thread on modularfords.com about this
here it is:

Pauls High Performance advertises an intake for $1,200. Advertised hp and tq increases are 18-25 + 500 extended rpm range. Try paulshp.com for more info. I have talked to Paul a few times in person and he is extremely knowledgeable about Ford modular engines and designs a lot of stuff himself. I have been extremely happy with the work they have done for me.

I think PHP has a good manifold and it seems PHP knows somethings about a modular motor :D ...what intrigues me with the FRPP 500 Intake is the long and short runner design....I'd like to get one to test up against the PHP &...the Polished Stocker...and see what's
what...

I agree TACH. That would be interesting to see the numbers on stock, FRPP and PHP intakes to see if it is worth the money. :eg:

Fast Ford magazine is doing a article and they used the FRPP intake it seemed to help the HP numbers with the right tuning. No mater what, you must retune to every mod or you will not see the full benifit of the mod.

I just went to Ford and got a print out of the intake on the Mach. It looks like we have an early version of the dual runner intake. I am going to pull mine and port it but the gaskets are $80. When I get my scanner working I will copy it and post it.

I have done some research on this with a buddy of mine. PHP does some porting on the intakes and then extrude hones them. The increase should be decent with exhaust and CAI, maybe MAF upgraded too. The FR500 is a different animal. According to a Ford Tech I spoke with, the biggest hindrance to our Mach's power is in the intake. He claims that they tested the FR500 on a stock Mach engine and gained over 30hp and close to 40trq. I'd love to see it tested on a dyno for myself. Just can't afford the insane price they are asking.

I would love to get the FR500 intake but i am not sure if it would fit under the shaker. I am waiting for someone to buy one and run some tests. I was even thinking of maybe adapting some IMRC's(Intake Manifold Runner Controls) and actuators from a 97 cobra to a ported Mach itake. But it seemed like to much work.

$2500 for 30 rwhp? i'm in. most of us have spent more than that without those gains. BUT.....I want proof. Ask your tech if he'll buy it back if the info is not accurate.

WOW the insane price of Ford hipo part is through the roof.

Yeah, you guys have a good point. I could spray the car and pick up 100hp for sure and it'd be about 1000.00 total.

2500 bucs for 30 rhp not worth the money. Only .03 at the track. frord needs to rethink some things!!!
