I finally ventured out to Haywood Speed Shop in Raleigh, NC. Thanks, Randy for the awesome work. With Diablo tuning program and my Predator he made gains of 20.69 rwhp and 36.74 rwtq for final results of (all #'s SAE) 278.13 hp and 302.66 tq. My first run showed terrible numbers with the stock tune and mods of MRT CAI, PHP Spacer, and Borla Stinger Catback of 257.44 hp and 265.92 tq. Maybe the tmx2 pcm didn't take to the mods as I would of liked, but the final numbers helped. It really put it all together and woke up my Mach. I am happy with it. For now. :hehe: Doug

It's amazing what a good tune can do. I think your the one that has the most improvement from a diablo tune. Altough it still looks like your running lean in 2K to 4K range......possible to add fuel=more torque

Randy had to adjust it that way to smooth out the tune and to get rid of a nasty dip around 4500 rpm. He did three other pulls than the first baseline one. Each time improvements in hp and in tq were seen. My Mach is a lot stonger throughout the powerband now. :shft

Isn't there something wrong when a five speed mach runs 257hp, with mods? It should be more like 270 stock.. And closer to 300 with those mods you listed. Those are the lowest stock numbers i've ever seen. Glad to hear that you got them up to 270.

Check out my post on dyno day. I was very dissapointed with 270rwhp with full exaust,kn and php spacer. Remember dyno's are different so 250-260 it's reasonable. I used a sct chip and flash to get to 285hp/313 tq. But again, the main thing about tunning was that the car feels so much stronger and is more driveable.

also CAI's with new maf's and such are useless till 450hp. This coming from my tuner,he never reccomends them untill u get a blower.

I was dead set on getting the C&L cai, which would produce more power, K&N or C&L. I am positive that my car is gonna have the SLP installed also

They are not cost effective IMHO

cold airs make little hp, BUT they will give you a better throttle response, ever notice how your rpms rocket to the red line after your cold air was installed.

check the www.mach1review.com for info on cold air kit testing. you may also want to look at the gb post about the c&l kits.

That's what I thought also and was very disappointed after the baseline run. A couple of things came to mind with the dismal numbers, first, the tmx2 pcm is not very friendly to mods and second, I am still running with the original stock cats. My Mach had left head work to get rid of the nasty "tick" at 1,200 miles and I just turned 4,000 on the odometer on the way home from the speed shop. Supposedly, I could gain 10-15 hp as more miles come. But overall, I am disappointed in the baseline numbers but at least she is back up to were she should of been in the first place and running better than ever.

I have a similar problem but got some good feedback from the following thread. http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26587&highlight=dyno+tune

When you add mods its best to dyno tune the car in. Also the weather affects the numbers and a good tech can tweak with a tuner to get the most out of your engine and make it driveable. Also each engine is differant and the mileage and how it was broke in can affect your numbers too. I have seen a common thing with Mach the higher the mileage the more power they are able to make. I am a fan of these modular motors as this is my first.

on this note:
like my dealer told me "drive it the way you want it to run". meaning the cpu learns how you drive the car. if you run her like a racehorse she'll beat hoofs for ya. if you treat her like a plow horse than she'll make ya jaded ever time. try disconnecting the bat. for 30mins. and get her on the highway and open her up next time you dyno

Got it retuned for the MAF & RAI and he had a 15rwhp gain and the same with tq.. Anything that makes air flow easier in and makes air flow easier out will net you more HP & TQ... Thats just the laws of physics..

On what car? MAF is an air flow sensor, it tells the computer how much air is coming in. If the stock unit is capable to read enough air volume for 450 hp, then increasing the MAF size is useless till u need more air, for more power. The sensor in the housing is the same. Your budy most likely benefited from the K&N type filter the JLT came with. The filter allowed more air to get to the maf. Check out www.modularpowerhouse.com and do a search on this topic.
