Hey guys, i know this topic has been covered in the past, BUT Dan03 noted 14 hp gains with his headers. Are they comming out with better header options for us that actually give us better hp numbers or is his mach a HP FREAK? I know that with only x pipe and cat back I noticed good gains. Can I better enhance these numbers with some long tubes? If so, what would the draw backs be on long tubes?????
Sorry, FULL of questions here.
i gained about 15hp (threw out) w/ bassani mids and cat'd x pipe before tune. i know the mids are not fulls, but they are close. all and all not alot of power for the mony imho. i think with long tubes pulling the transmition down will require removing the headers, in turn resulting in dropping the k-member (depending who you talk to). looking at my set up at least the pass rear tube will most likely need to be pulled. also was told some long tubes will pull oil threw the seals. don't know if this helps or not, but there ya go.

Mid leanths make great power and you keep your ground clearance..

From what I have read I think kooks makes some nice headers but like most I am worried about scraping on them if I lower my Mach. Also I would want to change cams then do the headers so as to get the most out of them. Darn Mach seems you can never stop moding them. LOL

If I got a tune it would give me alot more but I don't want to mess with a tune tilll I get all my CAI, MAF, and intake spacer in. Then I will get it tuned.. I gained over 14rwhp and around 11rwtq with just installing the headers.. It might not seem to be very much but believe me if feels a hole lot stronger then it did before.. I'm running consistent low 7.7's on some worn out 17" ET Streets. and bad track conditions.. If I had a good track I would be in the low 7.6's in the 1/8.. All the 1/4 mile tracks around here are closed for now so the 1/8 is all I can go by.. The best I could do before was mid 7.8's on a great track with better tires.. So there is a big improvment..
