Faster than a speeding bullet?

I saw this while looking at the local news website. Can you say busted, both in getting caught and the $ fine!


Motorcyclist Allegedly Broke Speed Limit By 140 MPH

WABASHA, Minn. -- A motorcyclist in Minnesota has been arrested for speeding -- while allegedly going faster than 200 mph.

The speed limit was 65 mph on U.S. Highway 61 near Wabasha. Police said Samuel Tilley was breaking that limit by 140 mph. They said a state patrol pilot who was flying overhead clocked Tilley doing 205 miles an hour while racing with another motorcyclist.

Pilot Al Loney said the bike was traveling nearly twice as fast as his plane. He radioed ahead to another state trooper, who pulled the two cyclists over.

Only the faster one was arrested.

Tilley is charged with reckless driving and driving without a motorcycle license -- in addition to the speeding charge

holy crap, they only arrested the faster guy??? :eek: that's crazy to go that fast on public streets!!!

I guess if it was a deserted highway...but still...that's just too funny...one guy gets ticketed and the other gets off...

That is just too stupid! He's lucky to be alive. I wonder what the bike was that he was riding?

Funny, I was watching 2 wheel tuesday, and the host was relating this story. He said the guy was riding a honda CBR1000, and the host was calling BS on the recorded speed of 205. His reasoning? The super sport racing bikes are *almost* reaching 200 mph. The stock honda may make 180 with the speed limiter undone...

To be honest, I haven't researched the capabilities of the latest bikes, but this guy is pretty much on top of the scene as a racer and motorcycle journalist. So far he's the only one mentioning that small matter.

If he's right, watch the guy's lawyer get the ticket tossed!

In either case, watch the do-gooders push the congresscritters make some law forcing street vehicle speed limiters to 100 mph or even less... :)
