or rather... not a drag!

This was the last scheduled day for racing at GLD until next spring. Of course it rained...

I live 65 miles from the track, it wasn't raining this afternoon, so I took the Mach for a spin... And I realized that it was about to be parked for 4 months (or more if we get April snowstorms) and I was bummed in a big way. I like living in the Midwest, but this is the time of year I do not look forward to. All the leaves are gone, and the sky is grey (Yea, I know, California Dreamin')

My car hobby is one of my escapes. When stress of the working life gets to me, it all goes away when I race or cruise or go to shows or car club events. But now all that is once again on hold for another winter.

By the way, am I the only one here who sits in his car while it is in the garage for the winter??? :p

It'll be ok Greg. There will be sunny, snow/ice free days when you can pull one of those pretty cars out and just drive it around for a few hours. Mine is a daily driver, so I can't really sympathize with ya ;)

Well... no, once they salt the roads here, the cars do not come out again until spring, and only then after we get a few rainstorms to wash that crud down the sewers and off the roadways... :(

This is the Rustbelt around here Donna. Do they use salt on the roads by you or do they use sand for icy streets?

They just throw sand around, its kind of entertaining LOL

Last year, we had a horrible ice storm. You guys might remember that a majority of the south was without power for up to a week. My driveway goes down hill, and there's a lake at the bottom. You can bet my cars didn't leave the driveway til it all melted off LOL

And I was born n' raised in Pennsnowvania ... so I know all about the salt. PennDOT had to pay to repaint one of my cars from have their spreader wide open, travelling 50 mph and chipped the hell out of my hood LOL

Greg,

If you get homesick for the area around GLD or if you just want to experience a little different sport, you can come down some Saturday and try some of my airgun stuff. I just moved the shooting indoors yesterday and for the rest of the cold season we will be shooting indoors at 35 yard range. :bna :bna

Maybe we can find some nice R/C Mach 1 models and then set up a drag strip on the range. I have brought my kids there before and on slow days we bring some of the cheap R/C cars and play around on the shiny tiled floor (it's actually our clubhouse but we empty it and shoot airgun and bows during the winter months)
