Hey guys and gals. I am definately going to go to Vegas, especially if Tach doesn't make it to the 40th. So I was wondering if anybody would be interested in getting together and making a caravan to Vegas.
I think that it would be awesome to see 30 or so Mach1's caravanning with "Vegas or bust" on the rear windows.

Dang, I have tried not to watch the Vegas Convention threads but here you go and make me really want to make the trip. I am going to check my schedule and see if the time is open.
Vegas is a long trip! When are you planning to head out and return? If we all go out together, we might as well head back together. What route are you thinking? I-40

I was thinking about leaving on Tuesday 9/28/04 and arriving in Vegas Friday early to mid morning. I was thinking about staying a couple of days after the convention to explore Vegas a little since we would be there. Then leave to return home on Thursday 10/6/04. I would probably take I-40. It really isn't that bad of a trip. This past summer I took my family out to the Grand Canyon National Park. We pulled our camper out there. When we came back we made it from Grand Canyon National Park to Memphis, TN in just 2 days. That was including stops at 4 Corners National Monument & the Oklahoma City Memorial as well as an overnight stop in Amarillo, TX.
I know it will be some long days, but I think it will be worth it.

Hey I'm definately driving out from Va Beach...I'm taking I-40 all the way accross...so yeah i'm in...as the date gets closer we'll coordinate some more.
From experience (I drove across country last year) I-40 is kinda cool...except for all the old tires in the road...I just treat it like a road course and drive around all them...kind of fun! Except at night!!!!!!

I will be driving out from Toronto. (tentatively leaving Sept. 28)
Thinking of doing the route that will pass Chicago. (think I can get to Chicago in about 7 - 8 hrs from here)
So if I leave around 6 AM, I can be near or close to Chicago by 2 PM (quick pitt stops and food included)
I am hoping to get as far west as I can on the 1st day of driving. May be a pipe dream but was hoping to be able to get close to Des Moines (at least in Iowa on the 1st day).
Stop somewhere for the night, and start up again in the AM.
Wed: if I am able to get past Denver on the second day, this would be good.
Probably stop somewhere near Rifle or Fruita would be good enough.
Thu: Not so aggresive but should be able to be in Nevada sometime on Thursday.
Heck, since this is a fri - sun event, perhaps I will try to get as close as I can to Area 51 on Thursday evening.
This is the first draft of my tour.
Will I be passing anyone else that is going?? I would love to join up with y'all. :hehe:

Any Pacific Northwesterners making the trip?
Coming down the Pacific Coast Hiway to Seaside Oregon on the 28th, Sacramento on the 29th, Furnace Creek in Death Valley on the 30th and then into Vegas on the 1st.
Let me know...

You're taking your time huh? I plan on leaving from the Sacramento area the 29th or 30th and it should take me about 9-10 hours to get to Vegas.
Stopping to see the sights?

Yeah never been down your way and want to check out Yosemite and Death Valley. You're going for a day or 2 earlier to Vegas than us. Work schedules and the like make it impossible for us to get away any sooner.
On the way back we intend to check out the Grand Canyon and return to the frozen north via Salt Lake. Gotta see as much as possible, who knows when we'll get back that way again.
