Ive been wanting a stang for a while..but couldnt justify the payments on a GT...however Brandon Ford has new Mach 1s for under 23k! In the last few days Ive really fallen in love with the Mach1. Ive been reading up on em, but I thought Id ask the owners for things to look out for/things to consider.

Havent had a chance to test drive one, but I will say just sitting in it the seats are a million times better than GT seats, which let you slide all over the place with the leather ones. I wonder how comfortable those bolsters are on long trips though. Also is the clutch very heavy, or about on par with a GT? I do quite a bit of city driving...but I would never have an auto in a car like this.

Thanks guys (and gals)

Well the clutch is a bit heavier than the stock GT but not as hard as my King Cobra clutch. Seats r a lot better than a GT 2 but when I have been sittin in Vinces (Black Mach) it hurts my back after a while but I have a bad back to begin with. The drive is noticable. The power is where you will really see it, and the ride is pretty good (A lot better than my 88). And for my credibility I have driven an 03 GT and Vinces Mach.

Well, it's hard for me to explain but this car is just coolness personified. The view out the windshield with that shaker scoop is just badass, the whole driving experience is just awesome, IMHO. I've had a LOT of cars in my adult life, this one ranks up there as one of the best by far. Just the way it rides, handles, looks and the power level in true stock form is A-1. In the past I would have had to do quite a bit of modding and tweaking to run this well.

It also is a bonafide "head turner" if that matters at all.

My advice to you would be to NOT take one for a test drive.

Because before you know it, you'll have a car payment... :D :D

Thats why I didnt drive it yesterday! I had to make up a real good one to get out of the test drive lol. Ive never even had a credit card in my name (im 21) so the hard part here will be getting mom or someone to agree to cosign the loan.

I think with a car like this my mods could be kept to a minimum. If I bought a GT I know Id be tryin to buy a supercharger and everything else. With this car I think an Eibach prokit, shifter, nice wheels, exhaust for the sound would have me happy for a loooooong time...especially considering Im driving a 16.0x explorer going on 6yrs now.

before I traded in for the Mach. And in my opinion, well, the mach is just superior. More power, more comfort, and a little bit stiffer ride (feels like corning on rails). <-- by the way... I didn't know how that felt, until I bought the Mach. Now I haven't drivin a Cobra, but I have been for a ride in one, and the "get up and go", feels about the same. (A little advantage to the cobra). All and all, great car. I wouldn't trade mine for any other ford, at this point. There is however, an engine tick, that a few mach owner complain about. I am one. But, according to the SVT 03 cobra owners, theres a few of them who are experiencing it too. And although it is kinda irritating, it does not effect the performance of the car. Also, if you decide to purchase the mach, check the pass. side door, to make sure it isn't rubbing against the seat. From what I've heard so far, most will rub, including mine. So I would definitely have ford fix it, before you drive it home. It will get irritating.

Good luck! You shouldn't be disappointed.

The Azure Blue was my choice because I think it looks a lot like "Grabber Blue" from the original Machs:

I actually LOVE the Torch Red! I was racing with Alex yesterday, we were door-to-door, and I'm thinking as we're ripping down the 1/4 mile... "Damn that is one sweet looking car he has!!!"

ya, it is pretty close..after looking through pics on mach1registry black has jumped out into the lead, followed by DSG. Whenever I see red "arrest me red" comes to mind. Being young..looking even younger..driving a red sports car is like starting out with 3 strikes at this point

I like the black and the DSG, but IMHO the shaker and the Mach1 graphics don't stand out enough for my taste. On the red cars, the contrast is stunning...

I have owned a pony, a GT, and a Cobra. I will always own my Mach 1. The seats are very comfortable, as well as most pleasing to the eye. Though the clutch is an upgrade from a GT, it feels the same as a GT clutch. Add a short shifter, and it's a race car. The 305hp is severely underrated. The actual HP falls in the 320 - 325 range. But the true speed in this car lies in the 320+ torque. Phenomenal !! This is Ford's fastest naturally aspired production Mustang. Hands down. I paid 29K in May, 2003. And that was a DEAL. Dude, 23K is a STEAL.

I'd jump all over that $23K deal. I just paid $27,500 for my torch red Mach about 2 weeks ago. This is my 7th Mustang ( I still have the 94 GT) and it's by far the best one.

78 Mustang II
83 GT
86 convertible
93 notchback
94 convertible GT
97 GT
03 Mach 1

Good luck!!!

for 23k all they have is yellow and white :( ...no offense to those that like em..but I refuse to spend that much money on colors I strongly dislike. A dealer trade with this car would supposedly cause the price to jump 1000-1500 :(

You could do some creative checking around for the financing 1st "unless you're paying cash " and get a pre qualified loan for "XX,XXX" amount. that way they know you already have researched what your options are, and can be approved. "Pre Shopping with prior approval". This may help get you into the color Mach you really want And a better sale price. Different Colors more $$, what planet are those people on. Hehe. LOL
Just a suggestion.
